The training that was for Tuesday, May 9^th   at the Salem DCF  on the Effects of Trauma has been cancelled. 

 

However, we have a training on June 12^th for CPR and with summer coming I am hoping that foster parents will be interested in becoming certified.

National Medication Take Back Initiative

 

Hi everyone,

 

On Saturday, April 29^th, there will be medication take back events throughout the state. I will list a few of the sites below and include the link to search by zip code. It can be useful if you have old medications in your desk that a child no longer needs. It can also be helpful to share with foster parents who are looking for a place to dispose of unused/no longer needed medications. Also, as I did previously, I can make periodic trips to the Salem Police Station to dispose of old medications, just let me know!

Canobie Lake passes will be available this year. The regular admission is $38.00. The pass price is $31.00. Tickets may be purchased from Carla. Cash only please. These passes will be available all summer. (Children under 48 inches are $26 at the gate, children under 3 are free) Parking is free.

We now also have York's Wild Kingdom. The regular admission is $17.25 for children and $22.25 for adults. The pass price is only $12.00. These tickets can be used from Memorial Day to Labor Day. (Children under 4 years old are $4.75 and sold at the gate) Parking is free.  This includes the zoo, shows, amusement rides etc.

 

Water Country passes will be available again this year. This year’s admission is $44.99. The pass price is $ 26.99 . Tickets may be purchased from Carla. Cash only please. Please join us for the Cape Ann Area D.C.F. Foster Parent Support Group. The group is open to all unrestricted and kinship Foster Parents. Issues and accomplishments related to fostering children and the impact on the families caring for them is discussed in an informal format. A representative from the Department is available to address questions and experienced foster parents a well as new families share their experiences. Meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of every month. Please feel free to forward to me any email addresses you think may like to be included in the invitation.

 

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday April 12th from  7:00 to 9:00 PM. This months meeting will be at Brandi and Dave’s home on 152 High Street. Danvers MA. Please call if you need directions.

Car seat recall

 

If you or someone you know is a parent or is expecting, you'll want to read this very carefully till the end as it involves your child's safety on the road.

Major car seat manufacturers have issued recalls for multiple models. The 16 models affected by the recall do not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 and could increase the risk injury in the event of a crash. The recall includes popular brands like Graco, Evenflo and Baby Jogger.

 

Here are the brands and model numbers that are affected:

This training will include interactive learning activities designed to increase competency related to Skills System skills, coaching techniques and individual/group teaching strategies. There will me opportunities to consult with the Skills System treatment developer about your specific case/program needs.
