Hi everyone,

I know this is no longer my role, but wanted to send this out so DCF foster students would not miss out.

If you have a youth who aged out via Care and Protection and they will be attending a post-secondary school in the fall,

please have them fill this out asap.  Deadline is July 1st.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Take care,

Jen

May is National Foster Casre Month!

As we hit the end of the month of May- National Foster Care Month- I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your commitment to our children!  Without you and the hard work you do, we could not do the work we do.  It’s because of you a child has a warm meal, a comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep.  We all appreciate you more than we can ever truly express!

THANK YOU for being foster parents!

Enjoy the long weekend and bless all we have lost serving our country!

FREE Adolescent Substance Use Groups this Summer

Team Fourteen Summer Groups

Is there a teen in your life who is misusing substances? Team Fourteen is expanding group offerings over the summer to help provide structure while connecting with peers in a safe, therapeutic setting. 100% of participants in our first session said that they would recommend our group programming to others “similar to me.”

Our individual and family therapy services will also be available!

The summer session of “Reinforcers” (based in Beverly) will consist of one all-female group and one co-ed group.  Both will run for ten weeks.  Because we know that summer is busy  and many people go away, we will allow two planned absences from group. Participation in group is free.  See attached flier for more details.

·        The female group will be run from June 15th to August 17th

·        The co-ed group will run from July 11th to September 12th.

To learn more about group or refer, send an email to sconsult@nebhealth.org or call T14 at 978-867-7137. To learn more about our individual and family services, visit www.teamfourteen.org. T14’s services are possible thanks to generous funding from The Peter and Elizabeth Tower Foundation.

If you would prefer stop receiving information regarding LHBS adolescent substance use treatment offerings, please let us know via email and we will remove you from this mailing list.

The training that was for Tuesday, May 9th   at the Salem DCF  on the Effects of Trauma has been cancelled.

However, we have a training on June 12th for CPR and with summer coming I am hoping that foster parents will be interested in becoming certified.

We need, at least, 8 people to sign up for this training.  Please call, Nancy Lyons at 978-825-3807 or 978-531-3278 to register.

National Medication Take Back Initiative

Hi everyone,

On Saturday, April 29th, there will be medication take back events throughout the state. I will list a few of the sites below and include the link to search by zip code. It can be useful if you have old medications in your desk that a child no longer needs. It can also be helpful to share with foster parents who are looking for a place to dispose of unused/no longer needed medications. Also, as I did previously, I can make periodic trips to the Salem Police Station to dispose of old medications, just let me know!

I am sorry but due to past difficulties, I can no accept checks from anyone other than DCF employees.  I also can not accept post dated checks etc. It is too difficult to keep track of and someone I always end up short L  If you are buying more than one park at a time, please write separate checks for each park.  It is easier for me to separate by park and deposit as needed.
