It is important as professionals to understand the impact of trauma on children so that we can offer a trauma informed/sensitive response. At MassGeneral for Children at NSMC, we have established the Parent Child Trauma Recovery Program which provides both advocacy and Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) to children and their protective caregivers who have experienced domestic violence. Child Parent Psychotherapy is an evidence-based trauma treatment in which children and their caregivers participate in the therapy. Any underlying premise being that trauma in children is best addressed within the attachment relationship. Lectures are free and take place on the third Thursday of the month. |
