Family Rounds - EXTENDED TIME 12 - 2 p.m. A monthly series for parents and professionals February 21, 2013 ~ 12 noon - 2:00 p.m. Davenport Conference Room 102B, NSMC Salem Hospital Presenter: Clare Vann, Private Special Education Attorney, Federation for Children with Special Needs Clare Vann is a Special Education Attorney in private practice representing parents in their efforts to get the special education services and programs their children need. She began working in the field of special education law in 1981 as a volunteer at the Federal for Children with Special Needs, where she was quickly hired to help teach special education advocacy courses and to train parents in their rights under special education law. She frequently conducts workshops on special education law on behalf of the Federation, and she has recently written a guide on transition services and issue for the Federation. Ms. Vann has been an attorney since 1986 and has an outstanding track record in her cases. She has family members with a variety of disabilities. Every child with a disability who received special education services must have an Individualized Education Program. This workshop takes parents step-by-step through the development of the IEP including how to articulate a vision, using evaluations to write measurable annual goals and measuring their child's progress. Lectures are free and held the third Thursday of the month.
