FW: DCF foster care alumni dinner, please read!!

 

Hello Everyone,

 

Please see the Massachusetts Network of Foster Care Alumni invite attached to this e-mail.  The MassNFCA’s annual dinner is November 15th from 6-9pm at the Holiday Inn and Suites, Lakeside Ave, Marlborough, MA 01752.  Please forward this invitation to interested foster youth ages18+.  Registration for the Alumni Thanksgiving Dinner has also been posted to their Facebook page as well as to massnfca.org.  Please RSVP no later than 11/7/12 by calling 866-212-0875.  At this time I have room for two more youth in my car and it is first come first serve.  If the youth (up to 2) would like me to transport them, I would need them to call me by 11/4/12 and they can leave a message, 978-825-3918.

DCF Youth Advisory Board meeting...need youth to attend

 

 

Hello everyone,

This month’s Youth Advisory Board has been moved up from the usual last Wednesday of the month, as this month that day falls on Halloween.  So it is Wednesday 10/24 at 3:30pm at the Cape Ann Office in case you have any foster teens interested in attending.  Otherwise the next meeting will be Wednesday November 28th at 3:30pm at the Cape Ann Office.

FOSTER PARENT TRAINING

There is a training about IEP (individual education plans) for foster parents on

Thursday, October 25th 6:30-8:30 at the Lynn DCF office.

Trainer is Barbara Rich

 

So many of our kids are on IEPs this is a great training if you can make it.

 

If you are an unrestricted foster parent, you are required to complete 10 hours of training every two years in order to be re-licensed.

PLEASE JOIN US!!!! Kid's Net/MAFF Conference

This is a great training!  Coffee and pastries in the morning, lunch is also provided and everyone will leave with Dr Cohen's book!

This is a once a year training and always a good one!

 

Attached you will find the MSPCC's Kid's Net/MAFF's conference flyer. The conference is scheduled for Friday, October 26, 2012 from 9-3pm. The conference will be held at the Holiday Inn 265 Lakeside Ave. Marlboro, MA. The presenter for the day is Dr. Lawrence Cohen, presenting on Playful Parenting.

Please encourage your Family Resource staff to attend and to remind their foster families about this wonderful training opportunity. These conference are a nice opportunity for colleagues across the state to connect as well as for foster families to meet & spend time with other families.

Description: A training developed by the Center for Adoption and Support, W.I.S.E. Up is an award winning curriculum to teach children ages 6 through 12 how to respond to questions about their adoption experience.  The workshop provides a framework to respond in a variety of ways using group discussion and role playing. While children are meeting, parents will come together to be trained on the W.I.S.E. Up curriculum in order to support their children using these newly learned strategies.
