Hi All,

Halloween is soon upon us and this weekend many entertaining events are happening in the area.  Check out the following family budget- friendly happenings or pass the info along to those with young children!

The  ever popular, Haunted Hayride, orchestrated entirely by  Rockport Cub Scouts is held on Saturday, from 6-9 pm, at the top of Summit Ave. in Rockport.  A tractor pulled cart travels through the town forest, where various spooky vignettes are creating by different “packs”. Admission is $4.00 pp and hamburgers, hot dogs, chowder & baked goods will be for sale. This was always one of my favorite fall family events (unfortunately my son won’t take me along anymore, too old!).

On Sunday from 2-4 pm, Kids Unlimited, Toodeloos and Island Arts & Crafts are sponsoring a free Halloween Party with prizes for best costumes, dance, art activities, games and more!  The event is taking place at “Hallow Ground” formerly known as the parking lot behind the stores on Main St. (the entrance to the area is on Hancock St.).

Cape Ann Art Haven in partnership with the Annie heater is presenting “Great Blackburn’s Ghost! It’s the Haunted Annie!”, Sunday & Monday from 4-7 pm.  The event will be held in the Blackburn building at 1 Washington St. for children 5 years and older.  Admission is $5.00 per child, parents & guardians are free. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

On Saturday, Art Haven is hosting a pumpkin carving event for children of all ages from 3-6 pm at 180 B Main St.  Costumes are encouraged, and prizes donated from local business supporters will be awarded. Pumpkins, tools and snacks generously provided by Wolf Hill Garden Center & Rockport National Bank.

Rockport Public Library hosts its annual Halloween Parade & Party on Saturday at 1:30 pm. Following a costumed walk through town, children will be entertained by the award-winning team, the Steelgraves.  The show provides an fun filled mix of magic, illusions, comedy and audience participation.

The Trustees of Reservations, Cape Ann Discovery Center at Ravenswood Park welcomes families on Sunday from 1-3 pm to ExSKULLent Adventure.  Learn about the animals of Ravenswood and view close up skulls and bones. Costumes are encouraged,  cost is $5.00, free to members. For more info & to pre-register call 978 281-8400 or visit www.thetrustees.org.

Sawyer Free Library in Gloucester is offering a free Halloween Craft Workshop from 10:30 am- 12:00 pm.   Children of all ages can create a Halloween decoration to take home!
