OFFERING FREE ANAT BANIEL METHOD LESSONS

FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS  AND LEARNING CHALLENGES

The Anat Baniel Method is an educational approach that focuses on the child's brain and its remarkable abilities to change and learn.  While gentle hands on touch can be used and verbally guided movement can be involved, the focus of this method is on the brain, brain plasticity, and the ability to change the brain even under conditions that might seem to not have anything to do with the brain.

I am an Anat Baniel Method Practitioner based in Newton currently offering free lessons to children with special needs and learning challenges.  Children with a wide variety of conditions and challenges have benefitted from the Anat Baniel Method.

I graduated from the ABM Professional Training in May 2011 to work with adults after an intensive 2.5 year training program.  I began the ABM Children's  Professional Mastery Level training in July 2011 and have since completed 3 out of the 4 Mastery level training segments.  We have been encouraged by Anat Baniel to continue our work with children and to include as many children as possible while we continue to train, at no charge.

I am currently offering free lessons for children with special needs and learning challenges  until March 19, 2012.

Below I've included a little more information about private ABM lessons.  For more information about this method, you can contact me directly or if you prefer you can look at Anat Baniel's website:www.anatbanielmethod.com.  This website is currently under construction though there still is some info to be found there that may be helpful to you.

Private Anat Baniel Method Lessons: I will work with your child in one-to one private lessons.  I invite you to watch and at times participate in the lessons, which we schedule according to your child's needs.  At times under certain circumstances, I might suggest two lessons in one day, or a series of lessons in consecutive days, to provide the optimal benefits.

Lessons with children can be anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on the needs of your child at that particular lesson. I allow 35-40 minutes to include time for transitions, diaper changes etc. The lessons are gentle, and most children, once they settle into the lesson, tend to enjoy how it feels. Typically the child is lying on a low massage table in whatever positions are most comfortable, and sometimes parents sit with the child on the table or hold the child depending on what is best for the child at that time. Younger children sometimes get very hungry or thirsty during the lessons, and it is fine for them to eat or drink during the lesson when they need it.   I meet the child where s/he is start with what is easy and familiar, and slowly and with subtlety introduce slight variations of what already comes easily.   While I am working with gently guided movement, my focus is on helping to create the optimal conditions for your child to develop new neural pathways which lead to greater learning.

There are a variety of ways this work may help you child's learning process.  Every child is different and every lesson is different.  I have heard back from parents that after lessons they notice their children to be moving with more ease, to be more engaged and communicative with the people around them, and to overall be more joyful. I've also witnessed many children doing this work gain a higher quality of attention, increase their ability to perceive more differences, find they are able to regulate their emotions better, and are overall able to understand their world better.

As a parent of a child with extensive special needs, I know firsthand the fears and challenges as well as the joys and celebrations as our children grow and develop.   I know how we each only want what is best for our child/children, and how overwhelming it can be at times to decide what might be best.   If you simply want to talk more with or without scheduling a lesson for your child,  I am happy to share more of my experiences, and answer any questions you may have.  Please feel free to contact me.  I welcome hearing from you!
