Subject: For DCF college bound youth...New NSCC SAILL learning community program

Hello everyone,

North Shore Community College has created a new program to start this fall designed for students with academic potential who test into Composition 1 and have overcome significant challenges and could benefit from a supportive learning community.  This will be set up as a cohort allowing students to make connections and support each other.  Programs such as these have proven to be very beneficial to the success of youth who fall into this category.

Please see the attached flyer and if interested, the two contact people are listed there.

If not enough youth sign up, we could lose this program.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you and take care!

Jen

Subject: New NSCC SAILL learning community program

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me a few weeks ago about the new North Shore Community College SAILL learning community program we are developing for the Fall. I have attached the flier. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please feel free to share the flier widely with staff, students and anyone else who might be interested!

SAILL is designed for students with academic potential who test into Composition 1 and have overcome significant challenges and could benefit from a supportive learning community at the beginning of their NSCC experience. Students take 9 credits as a cohort. Cohort classes were chosen to enhance student success and transfer into a wide variety of NSCC Programs of Study. If students would like to take more than 9 credits, program staff will advise students about other classes that fit into their academic and career goals. The program is open to men and women.

Thanks again for your help in getting the word out about SAILL!
